2003年、カリフォルニア州のニューポート・ビーチにて結成されたポスト・ハードコア・バンドである。「ヴォーカルが発する、凄まじいハイトーンボイス（高音域の声）」と「ハイテクニックな演奏」を武器に、アメリカのポスト・ハードコアシーンで圧倒的な人気を獲得。日本でも知名度が高いバンドとして知られている。2003年6月17日にリリースしたEP「Translating the Name」はネットを通じて話題になり、即座に人気に火が点いた。この余波からバンドは1度もライヴを行っていないにもかかわらず多数のレコード会社からのオファーを受ける。しかし、フィラデルフィアから呼び出されて強いホームシックになっていたヴォーカルのAnthony Greenが脱退。そして、「俺達が最も重要視しているのは、麻薬をやらない、しっかりとライヴで歌える、そしてルックスも良くて一緒に楽しくやっていける奴だ。でもユーモアのセンスはそんなになくていい。そこは俺達に任せておけ。」とオーディションを行い、Cove Reberが後任として加入。ヴォーカルの交代によりヴォーカルパートからスクリームが大幅に減る。Captol Recordsと契約してリリースされた1stアルバム『Saosin』は1週間で3万5千枚を売り上げ、全米22位を記録。続く2009年の2ndアルバム『In Search of Solid Ground』も全米19位を記録し、順調な活躍を見せていた。2010年、自身の所属するVirgin recordsからの離脱を決意。直後にヴォーカルのCove Reberがバンドから脱退した。その後、活動休止状態となる。2014年、Anthony Greenがヴォーカルに復帰したことが発表され、ライヴ活動を再開。しかし、翌2015年、13年間バンドにいたリードギタリストJustin ShekoskiがThe Usedに加入と同時にSaosinを脱退。本人は、「疑わしい理由でバンドを追い出された。」と語っている。2016年5月20日、約7年ぶりのスタジオ盤となる3rdアルバム『Along the Shadow』をEpitaphよりリリース。Current membersAnthony Green – lead vocals (2003–2004; 2014–present)Beau Burchell – rhythm guitar, backing vocals (2003–2010; 2014-present)Chris Sorenson – bass, backing vocals (2003–2010; 2014-present)Alex Rodriguez – drums, percussion (2003–2010; 2014-present)
