1980年、シアトルで結成。NWOBHMに影響を受けつつ、スラッシュメタルにも通じる激しい音楽性を確立。2ﾝdアルバム「The Dark」はバンド最初のPVである”Watch The Children Pray”がMTVでヘヴィーローテーションされたこともありビルボード92位にランクイン、その後23週にわたってチャートイン。その勢いを駆って発表された3rdアルバム「Blessing in Disguise」はビルボード75位とヒットした。1994年に解散。1998年に再結成し2009年には再び解散した。しかし、2012年にもう一度再結成を行い、活動を続けている。
