バソリー(Bathory) はスウェーデンの Quorthon (1966 - 2004) による一人スラッシュメタルバンド。バンド名はエリザベート・バートリー伯爵婦人にちなむ。活動開始は1983年。一人バンドと言う名目だが、実際はサポートのメンバーが何人かいる。2004年の Quorthon の死により活動を停止。初期 Bathory の音楽スタイルはディスチャージ、G.B.H、エクスプロイテッドといったハードコアパンクバンドやブラックサバス、モーターヘッドから影響を受けている。この時期の作品は後のブラックメタルに大きな影響を与えることとなった。特に3rdアルバムの Under the Sign of… は、今のブラックメタルの直接の原点とも言える。4thアルバムの Blood, Fire, Death ではそれまでの、ヴェノムに影響を受けた、速くて音質の悪いスラッシュメタルから、より荘厳な雰囲気を持つ音楽へと変化を見せはじめる。5thアルバムではその方向性をさらに推し進め、北欧神話のイメージがふんだんに盛り込まれたヴァイキング・メタルの原点になった。Bathory は、アンダーグラウンドのメタルシーンに大きな影響を残したバンドだが、日本盤は今まで1枚もリリースされていない。
