轟音ギター系インディ・ロックのムーヴメント“シューゲイザー”を語るうえで忘れられない、マイ・ブラッディ・ヴァレンタイン、ライド、スローダイヴなどがかつて所属していたUKの名門レーベル、クリエイション。その同レーベルに所属していた通好みのシューゲイザー・バンド、テレスコープス（The Telescopes）。　原題はタイトルがないため『#』または『The Untitled Second』と呼ばれること多い名盤『ザ・テレスコープス』は92年に発表された2ndアルバムで、彼らがクリエイション・レーベルに残した唯一の作品。シューゲイザーといっても彼らの場合は、轟音に突き進むのではなく、けだるいメランコリックなメロディが浮揚する、サイケデリックでドリーミングなギター・サウンドが基本。その彼らの完成形とも言えるのが同作であり、同作にはクリエイション・レーベルの裏ヒーローとも言うべき人物、ザ・タイムスのエドワード・ボールも参加しています。
