1995年、ワシントンD.C.で結成。北欧メロデスを意識した叙情的なメロディと、アメリカナイズなハードコアの攻撃性を融合させたようなサウンドを展開する。3rdアルバム「Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation」時点ではAt the Gates直系のメロディックなデスラッシュを展開していたが、4thアルバム「Undoing Ruin」ではメタルコアにシフトした楽曲が中心となり、ハードコアリスナーからも注目を集める。5thアルバム「Deliver Us」では前作の流れを踏襲しつつも、叙情的なメロディを豊富に活用した作曲センスで現在のスタイルを確立し、今なおこのアルバムを最高傑作と評価するリスナーも多い。6thアルバム「The Eternal Return」はビルボード104位にチャートインした。ヒートシーカーでは3枚連続でトップと、コアなファンから絶大な支持を集めている。3rdアルバム「Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation」の限定盤に付属しているDVDでは、彼らの来日時のオフショットが収録されており、東京駅の地面に座り箸を使って寿司を食べる様子などを見ることが出来る。
